Brief presentation of the institution:
The Faculty of Wood Technology at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences is the oldest university faculty in Europe specialising comprehensively in wood science. It was established nearly 70 years ago, in 1946, when it was separated, under the name of the Wood Technology Department, from the Faculty of Forestry. Since 1951 it has operated as an autonomous research and teaching unit. The experience gained over many years, as well as close links with industry and solid research and teaching resources developed over time, enable the Faculty to offer studying opportunities combining tradition and modernity. Students may gain qualifications in a range of subjects, including the restoration of wooden art objects, furniture design, technological process design or the management of their own wood processing companies. The mission of the Faculty of Wood Technology over the next few years, in addition to enhancing the innovative aspects of research work and expanding the teaching offer, is to build up closer relations with the industry.
