Brief presentation of the institution: 
With 28 staff members, the Faculty of Wood Engineering is the only faculty on wood science and technology in Romania and has over 56 years of tradition. The research activity of the Faculty of Wood Engineering is unfolded within two Research Centers, as part of the University Research Institute “High-Tech Products for Sustainable Development”: Furniture Eco-Design, Restoration and Certification in Wood Industry and Innovative Technologies and Advanced Products in Wood Industry. The research topics are oriented to the priority areas Sustainable Development, Innovative Materials, Products and Processes for Wood Industry aiming to stop the degradation of biodiversity and natural resources as well as to reduce associated risks for environment and sustainable development. The faculty members were involved in COST actions (as E37 on wood durability) and thematic networks (Wood modification).

Equipment available: 
-FTIR spectrometry (Alpha Bruker spectrometer), - colour measurements (Avantes UV-VIS spectrometer) -evaluation of surface roughness MarSurf XT20 instrument manufactured by MAHR Gottingen GMBH endowed with MARWIN XR20 software with a maxim measuring length of 120 mm. - analyses by optical microscopy (optical microscope Biostar, stereomicroscope Optika SZM) working by reflexion and transmission endowed with digital camera and software - universal testing machine (Zwick-Roell) model BT1 FB050TN.D3 (for solid wood)-measuring domain 0,2 – 50kN: - universal testing machine IMAL model IBX 600 (for wood based panels and solid wood panels)- measuring domain 0,1 – 10kN; - equipments for accelerated weathering tests and biological lab tests (environmental climatic chamber Feutron 400 FKS, Friocell- Climacell- Venticell line, steam sterilization station, bacteriological cupboard, UV lamps for sterilization of working space)" - FEUTRON KPK200 climatic chamber
